~ oil, Virginia earth pigments, acrylic on lime washed canvas - 24× 20”
This painting is from the Sienna Collection Inspired by one of my favorite places ever ~Middleburg, Virginia, and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. Middleburg was founded in 1787, and by the late 1800s the town was already surrounded by rolling farmland and open fields. The Hunt Country (fox hunt ) identity came later, with the Middleburg Hunt established in 1906.
I love imagining these same fields in another time, and wondering what they looked like then, under the same Virginia sky.
